Movie Analysis

 

The short film/ movie I’ve chosen was Dre it was a award winning short film 

In my opinion this film was on a practitioner level. What made it this level was the camera angles and the music fitting into the scenes perfectly. I really enjoyed how the angles and movements were all different and took. In the beginning of the film, it caught my attention on the part where the guy was going to rob the gas station, but the other black guy on the side, stopped it from happening and said that the robber can take whatever he has instead of robbing the place. In my opinion, the camera work and editing were on point but one point I would make is that the quality didn’t yet meet the top requirement.  Near the ending of the video, I really enjoyed the meaning and the theme that the movie was coming across. I think no one should judge anyone just because of what they do because everything has a meaning to it, especially a deep meaning. Overall I enjoy the camera work, how the actors perform, and how they tend to keep it entertaining by not only speaking, but giving a personal meaning that others can relate to.

Camera Movements

  Steadicam Yaidelis was reading a book she was interested in but unexpectedly ran into Gustavo, and started to create conversation about the book.  Pan In this shot we can see the beautiful view of the library. And as time passes by, the video shifts towards a wondering guy looking for a book he can use to study for the final exam. Gustavo was kinda nervous about studying but he built up the courage to go to the library and grab a book for the SAT.  Tilt In this shot the camera would start from the ground giving the shot a more of an eager feeling, as the man continues his pushups non stop.  Dolly Shot In this dolly shot we can see two main characters running from each other. The first one running from the man that stalked her. But as the video comes to an end he catches up to her.  Handheld In this shot Yaidelis really wanted a book from the top of the shelf and couldn't seem to reach it.
